Student of the month 11-09

 

 

 

FIREMAN OF THE YEAR

Tom Dedman presented the Fireman of the Year to Michael Kauzlarich,  Michael has been a member of the fire department for fifteen years. In addition, he has become an EMT-intermediate, he joined the hazmat team in 2009 and he is also a mentor for one of the new firefighters. The Club presented him with a check for $250 to
present to a charity of his choice.

 


STUDENT OF THE MONTH- YOUTH OF THE YEAR


Sydney Barry – Capital High School – she is the daughter of Mark and Beth Barry. She is involved in orchestra playing the viola and violin, she also is on the swim and volleyball teams. She hopes to attend a West Coast College next year.

 TJ Lanier – Helena High School – He is the son of Ted and Vicky Lanier. He plays on the football team and is on the track and field team. He is involved in NHS and 3-7-77’s. He is a volunteer assistant small fry football coach. He would like to attend MSU next year.

 Molly Adamson – Helena High School – she is the daughter of Daniel and Dana Adamson. She is a Cheerleader, involved in women’s choir, NHS, Peers Club, and Bengal Beginnings. Her future plans are to attend U of M and to become a teacher.

 Austin Schweitzer – Capital High School – he is the son of Lenny and Carol Schweitzer. He plays tennis and spends his free time working. He plans on attending MSU to study construction engineering.

 Keegan Boyar – Helena High School – he is the son of Theresa and Brand Boyar. He has been involved with the speech and debate teams, science club and NHS. He would like to study history or engineering in college.

ACE AWARDS YEAR 2009

YOUTH OF THE YEAR 2009


John handled the presentation for the Youth of the Year. We held 22 interviews from the Students of the Month and the decision was very hard. The three finalists were –

HHS – Amy Bischoff is the daughter of Don and Kathy Bischoff. She plans on attending MSU.

CHS – Jane Reynolds is the daughter of Jim and Carrie Reynolds. She plans on attending Washington State to          study speech-language pathology.

HHS – Erinleigh Caughron is the daughter of Margy Kernan and Cliff Caughron. She plans on attending either          Carroll College, Gonzaga or the University of Puget Sound to study bio chemistry.


The awards are as follows;

STUDENT OF THE MONTH 1-09

Helena High School Senior - Aven Satre-Meloy is the son of Kay Satre and Tim Meloy. He is the Helena student representative for the School Board of Trustees. He has played piano for twelve years and plays varsity tennis. He is in International club and NHS. He plans on attending college to study environmental sciences.
Helena High School Senior- Josephine Meis is the daughter of Phil and Kate Meis. She is interested in math and science classes. She is in NHS, Biology Club, Key Club, and Link Crew. She is in Wind Symphony and plays the flute. She plans on attending a four year liberal arts college and major in pre-dentistry.

Capital High School Senior - Kjersti Jorgenson is the daughter of Beth Sanguine and Ron Jorgenson. She is interested in English, writing, Shakespeare, theatre, art and speech and debate. She is Secretary of NHS and President of Drama club. She will be attending NYU's Tisch School of the Arts to study theatre.

Capital High School Senior - Brenna Fanning is the daughter of Mike Fanning and Tammy Plubell. She is interested in math and science especially biology and chemistry. She is involved in gymnastics, which
she practices 15 hours a week. She will probably be the Valedictorian of her class. She is in NHS, Math club, Respect club, Ero club and Green club. She plans on attending college to study pre-med and wants to go to medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon and work with athletes.

Capital High School Senior - Louie Blood is the son of Louie Blood and Wendy Lee. He is interested in playing sports and drawing. His academic interests include maintaining his 3.9 cumulative GPA, math and science classes. He plans on attending college to study engineering and is also planning on participating in collegiate sports.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH 12-08

Helena High School Senior, Rachel Smith is the daughter of Kim and Will Smith. She is interested in art, piano, choir and writing. She is a member of NHS, Art Club, Greengroup and GSA. She plans on attending a west coast college to study art and writing.

Capital High School Senior, Emily Sims is the daughter of David and Jennifer Sims. She is interested in history, photography, design and English. She just recently moved to Helena from California and hasn't
had a chance to get involved in any student offices. She plans on attending HCT in Helena to study business.

Helena High School Senior, Jon Lane is the son of Deborah Lane. He has played piano for the past seven years, is on the football team as well as the track team. He is in NHS, Key Club and International Club. He will probably attend MSU.

Capital High School Senior, Ben Ternes is the son of Mary and Dave Ternes. He plays golf and basketball. He is interested in business, accounting and management. He likes to hunt, camp, fish and snowboard. He wants to continue playing golf in college and is undecided on the
school.

Helena High School Senior, Samantha Foster is the daughter of Kirk and Maureen Foster. She is involved in HHS Wind Symphony, State Music Festival and District Music Festivals. She plays basketball and is on the track team. She plans on attending MSU to major in Engineering.

Capital High School Senior, Jane Reynolds is the daughter of Jim and Carrie Reynolds. She is involved in Key Club, Outdoors Club, NHS and Green Club. She is involved in volleyball and track. She is also the
co-editor of the yearbook. She plans on attending college to study speech-language pathology.

Fireman of the Year award went to Mike Dillman. He had his family present for lunch and the award presentation. The Club honored him with a check for $250

STUDENT OF THE MONTH

CHS - Marcia Levitan is the daughter of Bob Levitan and Bareana
Soulik. She is a dual citizen of the US and of Micronesia. She interested in math and computers. Other activities include music - orchestra, Spanish and dance. She plans on travelling abroad after going to Claremont College.
HHS - Erinleigh Caughron is the daughter of Margy Kernan and
Clif Caughron. Her interests include biology, chemistry, and calculus.
She is also involved in Key Club, peer mentoring and volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters. She plans on attending a college in the Northwest to study cellular biology and /or micro biology with a minor in Spanish.
CHS - Hannah Berglund is the daughter of Jeff and Shaunna
Berglund. She plans to attend University of Montana. Her activities include tennis, girls soccer team manager and NHS
CHS - Tara Will is the daughter of Todd and Carol Will. She is interested in science and math. She is involved with volleyball, swimming, and track. She is also involved with her youth group and teaches Sunday school. She is member of NHS. She plans on attending Montana State University and majoring in Pre-Medicine
HHS - Greg Elison is the son of Brad and Jen Elison. He is a
NHS member, in band, music and the captain of the Speech and Debate team. He is interested in math, science and research. He plans on attending a west coast college.
HHS - Kelsey Anthony is the daughter of Susan and John Anthony.
She is in volleyball, track, a member of NHS and International Club. Her other interests include volunteering in peer mentoring, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Key McKenna Youth Foundation Parks Program. Her future plans are to attend a liberal arts college in the Northwest and get a degree in elementary education.

Kathryn (Kate) Dramstad from Helena High – She is the daughter of Brenda Nordlund and Harold Dramstad.   Her honors include National Merit semifinalist, National Honor Society and has a 4.0 for all high school years.

Anna Heinitz from Helena High – She is the daughter of Melanie and Steve Heinitz. She is interested in Biology, Science, Math, Music and Dance. She has a 4.0 GPA for seven semesters in a row and is member of NHS.

Emily Creasia from Capital High – She is the daughter of Frank and Dori Creasia. She is the Student Body President, member of NHS, delegate at MT Girls State and Founder and President of the Feminist Club. Being the Founder of the Feminist Club was something that stood out amongst the finalists.
